Anthony Philippakis, M.D., Ph.D.

Anthony is a Venture Partner at GV (formerly Google Ventures), focusing on machine learning, distributed computing and genomics. He is committed to bridging the gap between data sciences and medicine, and leveraging his broad scientific background, which includes an undergraduate degree in mathematics at Yale, a master’s in mathematics at Cambridge University and an M.D./Ph.D. at Harvard. These degrees were followed by a medical residency and cardiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Anthony is currently a practicing cardiologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, specializing in the care of patients with rare genetic cardiovascular diseases. He is also the Chief Data Officer of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. At the Broad Institute, he directs the Data Sciences Platform, an organization that develops software for analyzing genomic and clinical data.
